Course Description

This electric vehicle charging point installation course is a 2-day non-accredited course. Throughout your training, you’ll develop and practise the skills for the Design and Installation of Domestic and Small Commercial Electrical Vehicle Charging Installations.

Rebus Training provides a FREE loan copy of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation and current IET Wiring Regulations for use during the course. These are essential publications and are used throughout the course and assessment.

About this course.

Aimed at experienced electricians this course will give you an overview of the wide range of equipment and systems available for this type of specialised installation. You will be guided through the IET code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation through worked examples, job based scenarios and discussion.

Key learning outcomes for this course are:

  • Know the key documentation and legislation in relation to electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE)
  • Know different types and features of EVSE
  • Understand design considerations for EVSE installations
  • Understand testing, commissioning and handover requirements specific to the installation of electric vehicle charging equipment and circuits in domestic and small commercial settings
  • Understand the use of vehicles as electrical energy storage systems as part of prosumer’s installations

This course in intended for electricians and those with responsibility for EV charging point installations. By completing this course, electricians can enhance their expertise in regard to EV charging infrastructure, with the aim of ensuring safe and efficient installations for the growing demand in this field.

Course entry requirements?

This course is intended for electricians unable to meet the industry entry requirements outlined in the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) i.e you do not have a formal electrical installation NVQ 3, apprenticeship or relevant ECS Gold Card.

This course is not suitable for those that do not have prior electrical training and experience.

Assessment

At the end of your RTL 3340 course, you will complete an open book paper-based multiple-choice exam.

Duration: 60 minutes

Number of questions: 30

Pass mark: 75%

Graded: Pass/Fail

Question type: Paper based

Permitted reference materials: Current versions of the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation and IET BS7671 Wiring Regulations

On successful completion of the exam, you will receive a certificate of training within 7 days of completing the course.
