City & Guilds 2382-18 18th Edition

BS7671:2008 18th Edition Wiring Regulations

BS7671 is published jointly by the IET and the British Standards Institution. With representation from a range of industry organisations and bodies, BS7671 sets a safe and consistent standard for electrical installations in the UK and other countries.

The IET 18th Edition publication (blue cover) and the new City & Guilds 2382-18 qualification will both be released on the 2nd July 2018. Although training providers such as Rebus Training Ltd have advance knowledge of many of the changes we will be fully researching BS7671:2018 prior to delivery of our first courses on the 16th July 2018.

When the 17th edition was introduced back in 2008, those that had achieved a recent 16th edition qualification were eligible to complete an update course with a reduced scope 1-hour examination. As we move to the 18th edition, City & Guilds and other Awarding Organisations have agreed not to offer a reduced examination covering the changes from 17th to 18th edition. As a result, all 18th edition courses will lead up to a 2-hour examination covering all of the new publication.

Here at Rebus Training we will be offering a 1-day Fast Track course that will be suitable for those that have a good working knowledge of BS7671 17th edition Amendment 3. It is likely that candidates in this position may well have previously achieved the City & Guilds 2382-15 course. This 1 day 18th edition course in Stoke on Trent will cover the significant changes made in the 18th edition. Candidates will then sit the full 2-hour examination.

The 18th Edition Wiring regulations course is delivered using job scenarios and open discussion to reinforce learning. Candidates will be guided through BS7671:2018 completing short session tests throughout to confirm your level of understanding. At Rebus Training Ltd we provide FREE loan copies of BS7671 which will be available to use during classes and for use during your open book examination.

The 18th edition wiring regulations will be published in July 2018 and all new electrical installations will need to comply with BS7671:2018 from the 1st January 2019. Installations designed after 31st December 2018 must comply with BS 7671:2018.

To meet the training needs of the industry, Rebus Training will be offering 4 course options as follows:

OPTION 1 – 3-day course
A comprehensive 3-day course covering all the key areas of BS7671:2018. The examination will be taken on day 3 after which you will receive a printed exam result form.

OPTION 2 – Evenings only
This course is ideal if you wish to study outside of normal working hours but still wish to complete in a fairly short time span. The pace of this course is a little more relaxed and delivery takes place over 6 evenings during a 3-week period. You will then sit the examination the following week – again in the evening.

OPTION 3 – 1-day Fast Track
This 1-day course will focus on the key changes in the 18th edition. You will then sit the full City & Guilds 2382-18 2-hour examination. Please note that you should only consider this option if you have a good working knowledge of BS7671 and have ideally achieved an Amendment 3 qualification.

OPTION 4 – Bespoke training for groups
A tailor made course delivered at a venue, time and pace to suit you and your colleagues.
